Do you own a website?
Would you love to encourage more customers and clients to buy from you?
As most homepages are the most visited page on a website, you need to make sure it’s top quality.
It gives potential new customers and clients an introduction to your business, and shows off what you do best.
Within this blog post I will be sharing the top design elements that you need to consider with your homepage. Raising your brand, your sales and your lead conversions.
Be Clear, Clean & Direct
With your homepage, you need to be as clear and direct as possible. Out goes endless information and cluttered design; a homepage needs to be clear, clean and direct.
This makes their message clear, and sets a tone for their overall website.
There’s not too much information for the user to digest, and we can easily travel through the homepage with ease.
We get an excellent grasp of what they are selling, and we can make our own way throughout their website.
Tip 1: Be clear in your tone, be clean in your design, be direct in your message
Focus On One CTA
After researching into great homepage design, I discovered that the most successful homepage designs focus on just one CTA.
Yes that’s right, just one CTA.
Look at this example by Dropbox Business, can you see the one CTA they target?
‘Try Free for 30 Days’.
It’s simple, and sets a precedent. They repeat it so it becomes engrained into our conscious.
This is what you need to do with your homepage design – focus on one CTA.
Do you want the user to subscribe, do you want users to discover about a product, or do you what them to register with you?
A great CTA is constructed with short, to the point text, that incorporates only one or two button colours.
Tip 2 : Whatever CTA you use, make sure you repeat it on your homepage.
The What, When & How
Your homepage is your one chance to win over prospective customers.
It should tell customers what you do, why you’re unique to your competition and encourage users to give a damn about you!
When you’re next designing or developing your homepage, you need to make sure you are telling the user what, when and how.
What – Who you are and what you can offer
When – When were you formed and why you have experience
How – How can you help the user with their pains or difficulties?
Lots of website fail to do this.
They don’t give the user a solution to their problems, and the user ultimately leaves.
Tip 3 – Focus on the what, when and how of your homepage
Creating A Brilliant Homepage
If you own a website, you will know how important a great homepage is.
Regardless of the product, service or what you want to promote, you need to encourage, inspire and get users into action to make your page successful.
It takes substantial planning, developing, and testing to make a truly mind blowing homepage, but it can definitely be done.
If you only take one thing away from this blog post – be clean and clear in your design. If you do this effectively, you will communicate a clear message to your users.
Have fun with it, play with it and see what you can come up, you will be surprised by how a effective design can mean a big difference to your overall website performance.
