When we look up to those who have made it in the business world – what attributes do they all have in common?

They’re all very driven, and have worked hard to be where they are today.

They all have a passion for what they do and believe in, and this is reflected in their companies.

Using their passion, relationships with others, work ethic and business minds, they’ve made people sit up and take notice of their companies, and most often than not, have made a lot of money from it too!

But theres one thing that they all have, and if they didn’t have it, or very much lacked it, they wouldn’t of been able to make a worth while business.

And what is it I hear you ask?

Well, it’s confidence.

Why It Gets Overlooked

When I started my other business, Graphic Tide, I was confident about the idea, the website, the branding, and how the company functioned, but I wasn’t confident enough to really promote it on a big scale and say – “Here we are, come and get us!”

I’m not really sure why this was the case, but it took me a while to promote the business, get new email subscribers, email other artists, and generally market the business. This also went for the transparency of the company, by putting details about how we started the business, adding images of ourselves, and putting ourselves ‘out there’ for the world to judge us – well, that’s what I thought before.

But this isn’t the case at all, it’s all about your perception that others will judge you, and the confidence which you have.

I wish I had been more confident at the start of the business, and put myself out there more – but I’ve learnt from this and am much better at it now! This has resulted in me starting this blog, putting my portrait on every page, introducing myself to you guys, and generally being as transparent as I can.

This might not be putting myself out there that much, as there’s still a lot of things which I get nervous at, but it all counts!

Got A Great Idea? Don’t Let Yourself Get In The Way!

Like I said before, confidence can take is pretty important in business. People listen to those who have confidence in their services, products or ideas.

If you think your idea isn’t good enough to start a business, knock it out of the park and do it!

Worrying about emailing a potential client, customer or a part of your audience? You’ll never know if you don’t try.

Nervous about attending that networking event, talking on a podcast, putting yourself out their for the world to see you? Don’t let this stop you.

A barrier is made if you don’t have confidence in yourself or your business, and stops you from succeeding.

You Have A Great Idea, So Think Positively!

One great way to help you get some assurance with your business, is to think about the positives. You’ve created the idea and business, and now it’s time to start believing in that idea.

The best idea I’ve come across, is to just do it. If I got anxious about doing something, even though I believed that it was the right thing to do, which could evolve my business further, I would just do it, and not question myself.

If you give your brain a chance to question the decision, you can start to fall down a slippery slope. This is when it’s hard to get back up that mountain and actually do the thing which your now doubting.

Do it before you have a chance to doubt yourself.

Another great piece of advice, which I always refer to, is to fake it until you become it. This doesn’t mean to say that you have a different personality or human being altogether, but if you fake it to begin with, you can become it, and then it stops you from questioning yourself and your business.

Stand up straighter, think like a confident person would think, and fake it until it becomes you, while keeping your personality intact.

Your business needs you to stand up for it, and not let it fall by the wayside.

Don’t Mix Arrogance With Confidence

There’s a big difference between confidence and arrogance.

Confidence is admired, respected and can lead you to success.

Arrogance is the opposite of this. Your viewed as offensive, self important, and you have an overbearing pride.

Business is successful with the relationships that you create, as others are not attracted to those with arrogance, so don’t let this become you.

Say “YES” To Your Business

You can do it, and you will do it!

Think about the positives in your company, and have courage to really pursue what your doing, without thinking twice.

Confidence can take you anywhere, as it allows you to strike up conversations, land more clients and customers to your brand, helps promote your business without doubting yourself, and lets you destroy your own fears

Now its time to believe in yourself, as confidence is so important in business.

Summary Of Points

  • Confidence in your business can help you evolve your company, as it allows to do anything, like striking up a conversation to promoting your business
  • Think about the positives with your business, if your finding it difficult to find that courage
  • Fake it until it becomes a part of you
  • Don’t let your confidence turn into arrogant however, as you’ll start turning people away from you and your business
  • I know you what it takes, it’s just about communicating it to other people!
