People will remember you, shop with you first, and you’ll be seen as a business with a personality, something which is crucial within business.

But how can you achieve this? By showcasing who you are, using social media to your advantage over your competition, and using the correct tone of voice for your business.

When you look at your business, are you showcasing who you are to your audience? Do you think you’re holding anything back?
Do you know that your own personality makes you stand out from the crowd? Your completely different to the next person, and you should use this to your advantage: as everyone is different!
Whenever we look at the popular brands like Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, to the legendary Seth Godin, (who is known for his bald head), they all sing to the same tune;
They’re distinctive in their personality, they’re distinctive in their look, and they’re distinctive because they don’t hold anything back.
This is what I what you to think about with your brand;
How can YOU make it more distinctive, and completely different from the rest? As this is exactly what branding is all about: differentiating you from your competition.
This isn’t to say that I want you to go bald like Seth Godin, own a computer company like Bill Gates, or be a talk show host, but whatever characteristics you think are appealing to your audience, I want you to accentuate it.
This will help you seem different to your competition, and bring some personality to your brand.
It can be a part of your personality, the way you look or the way you talk, but have a think about it, and embed it into your brand for ultimate success!
Use Social Media To Your Advantage
Social media is a fantastic element which you can use to bring extra credibility, traffic, and add a big heap of personality to your business and brand.
But how can you do this?
Share a piece of content which is a bit different from rest, share what you’ve been up to, speak your mind (if you feel it reflects you in a good and professional light), and give your audience some back stage access!
Referring back to my previous tip, see if you can feed some of your unique personality into your social media feeds.
Offering your own voice to social media is the best way to do this, with video being the top of the list, as you can easily communicate your personality to the world, that the written word just doesn’t get across!
Add To Your About Page
Does you About page reveal who you are to your audience?
Do you lay everything down on the table?
Your About page is the single most popular page on any website, as people love to discover stories, gain the backstage pass, and see what your business is all about.
This is your chance to reveal a lot about your own personality, where you’ve come from, what your business stands by, and why your customer should trust you.
If you’re completely honest, then your customer will instantly feel a big level of trust towards you. You haven’t tried to be someone different, and as you’ve revealed all, the only reaction they can feel is trust, right?
Use your About page to not only reveal your brand and personality, but to also build trust, which is highly valued in business.
Your Language & Tone Of Voice
You might not know this, but your tone of voice makes a massive impact with your brand and how you’re perceived by other people.
When I think about this, a certain Gary Vaynerchuk comes to mind, who is brass, confident and loud. He holds nothing back, is completely himself, which his audience loves.
Sure, you either love him or hate him, but his tone of voice makes up who he is.
When you’re next on video, writing a blog post or speaking to someone at a networking event, be sure to remember your tone of voice.
Does your tone of voice and language represent your brand?

The main point is to be yourself, but if you feel you can use slightly different language or tone of voice subtly to represent a different form of brand, then be sure to get it nailed!

This is why it’s so important to nail branding, and to feed as much YOU into your brand as possible.
